About the hotel
The 4* Banff Aspen Lodge has so much to love about it, and it’s easy to see why it’s a firm favourite. It’s considered a mid-range hotel with high-end perks, and one of the best breakfasts served in the Rockies, so you’ll be fuelled up ready for a day on the slopes. Famous for its homemade granola, a must-try, don’t forget about the maple bacon and smoke sausages also on offer. End a day on the slopes with a soak in the outdoor hot tub, conveniently located beside a roaring fire creating a perfect base to share the stories of your day on the slopes. There’s a great choice of restaurants as you step outside the hotel, with thanks to its great location on the main street.
About the resort
The ski resorts of Banff and Lake Louise lay perfectly in the heart of the Rockies, so you can expect some phenomenal snow conditions in one of North America’s biggest ski areas. There’s the added bonus of wildlife everywhere which can be spotted from the shuttle bus right up to the mountain. There’s easy coach access to two large ski areas in Sunshine and Lake Louise, plus the local Mt Norquay. All three mountains offer an abundance of gentle slopes and good ski schools, perfect for those just starting out. Then for the advanced and intermediates, it’s a playground full of back bowls on Lake Louise, steeps and bumps on Goats Eye Mountain and the Ladies’ and Men's’ Downhill courses in Lake Louise. For the snowboarders, Banff is amazing for all abilities, plus there are no draglifts! Freeriders should head for Mystic Ridge lift on Mt Norquay for the best slopes on the mountain, or head over to Sunshine for one of the best terrain parks in the Rockies. Slightly different from France or Austria, the apres normally consists of chilling out with a beer and watching the ice hockey, but rest assured the bars and pubs do get busy with a great atmosphere.
